Steel Production
PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is one of the leading metal producers in Ukraine. The enterprise produces 5 main products. Steel facilities of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih include sinter and blast furnace, steel and rolling departments.
Sinter and Blast Furnace Department
Sinter and blast furnace department produce pig iron. This department consists of:
- Sinter Shop 1
- Sinter Shop 2
- Sinter Shop 3
- Blast Furnace Shop 1 (includes blast furnaces 6, 7, 8)
- Blast Furnace Shop 2 includes blast furnace 9, one of the biggest furnaces in Europe.
Steel department
Steel department produces steel ingot and continuously cast sections of required chemical composition and sizes. Main shops of steel department are:
- Converter Shop produces rimmed steel, semikilled steel, killed steel, alloyed steel and low-alloyed steel.
- Trains Preparation Shop prepares steel teeming trains for Converter Shop and Open-Hearth Shop, strips ingots and takes them to blooming shops of rolling.
- Refractory and Lime Preparation Shop provides sinter and blast furnace shops with lime, converter refractory materials and refractory mixture for torkret process of converters.
- Scrap Preparation Shop processes waste metal and scrap and loads them on trains for further steel production at steel shops.
- Metallurgical furnaces repair shop repairs refractory work of metallurgical aggregates at shops of sinter and blast furnace, steel and rolling departments.
Rolling department
Rolling department produces all main products of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
Rolling department consists of:
- Blooming Shop dedicated to production of billet for small sections and wire mills of the plant, as well as to the production of the billet for export dispatch.
- Section Rolling Shop 1 (three small-section mills and one wire mill) produces shaped profile, angle, flat bar, wire rod, round and square.
- Section Rolling Shop 2 (two small-section mills) produces rebar, wire rod, round and square.
- Rolling Shop 3 produces round and wire rod from structural steel grades, rebar in coils.
- Roll Turning Shop. Boring, repair and milling of rolls for manufacture of rolled products consistent with global standards.
- Metal Product Processing Shop. Production of surfacing wire, welding wire, metal mesh and nonstandard products for shops of the plant, production of bent rebar and steel products of multiple dimensional lengths.
