PRODUCTION

  • Full production chain from iron ore mining up to finished metal products.
  • Specializes in long products: rebar and wire rod, sections, angles, strips, and billets.
  • Annual production of the plant, with its full production cycle, is over 6 million tons of steel, more than 5 million tons of rolled products, and more than 5.5 million tons of hot metal (pre-war indicators)

AMKR steel was used in some of the most significant construction projects worldwide, including Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Flame Towers in Azerbaijan, and the New Safe Confinement in Chernobyl.

EXPORT

  • Prior to the war, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih exported 85% of its finished product, which made it one of Ukraine’s largest exporters

Since the Ukrainian Black Sea ports of Odesa and Mykolayiv are blocked, the company has switched to transportation of its products by rail and established new supply chains of coal and other critical materials.

  • In pre war time the main share of sales was in the countries of Middle East, North and West Africa. Currently the most of exports will go to the USA and European markets, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom.

INVESTMENTS

  • The plant was privatized in 2005 at an open auction at a price of $ 4.85 billion (UAH 24.2 billion). This is almost a half of the total amount generated by privatization in the recent history of Ukraine.
  • During 17 years of its operation in Ukraine, ArcelorMittal invested $ 10 billion (including $ 4.8 billion – take over amount during the privatization + $ 5.2 billion - investment in production development).
  • During 17 years, AMKR has invested over UAH 10 billion in reducing its environmental impact. Since the privatization of the company, total air emissions have been reduced by 47.7%, wastewater discharge by 70.2%, and waste disposal by 24.1%.

TAXES

  • During 18 years of ArcelorMittal's operations in Ukraine, the company has paid over $6 billion in taxes.
  • On 2022 AMKR paid about $75 million of mining tax upfront to support the Ukrainian government in time of war.
