For many employees of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Casting and Mechanical Plant, Steel Service and contracting organisations, the working day begins with a visit to medical professionals. Pre-shift, pre-trip and treatment-related examinations help ensure that a person is fit for work, particularly where hazardous production processes are involved. Employees have this contact with medical professionals every day. Medical professionals measure blood pressure, monitor well-being, provide consultations and administer first aid when necessary. They not only assess health status, but also give people confidence that support is always close at hand should it be needed.

The principal task of the medical centre’s two polyclinics is not only to treat illness, but also to prevent it, helping employees remain healthy and fit for work for as long as possible. Particular attention is paid to people working in conditions involving exposure to harmful and hazardous factors. Preventive medical examinations, laboratory tests and other diagnostic assessments are conducted here every year. Health education aimed at cultivating a culture of caring for one’s own health also remains an important component of the work.

Prevention protects health. Do not wait for warning signs from your heart.

A heart attack or stroke does not happen suddenly. In most cases, the body sends warning signals in advance, which people are accustomed to attributing to fatigue, stress or the weather. That is why specialists from the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih medical centre held a preventive health campaign at the company, during which employees could have their health indicators checked quickly and free of charge.

Almost 500 employees of the company and contracting organisations had their cardiac health and blood pressure checked during the medical team’s preventive campaign. Many people live with high blood pressure without even being aware of it. The consequences may include heart attacks, prolonged treatment or even tragic cases. At the same time, most such situations can be prevented through timely diagnosis. Monitoring blood pressure and blood glucose levels, regular medical examinations and careful attention to one’s well-being help identify risks at an early stage. This was precisely the focus of the campaign.
