Clear requirements and control in the field of occupational safety are the most important conditions in ArcelorMittal's journey to zero frequency rate of occupational injuries, without distinction between its own and external employees.

The ArcelorMittal University in Ukraine is successfully functioning at PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, where the company’s employees undergo training on occupational safety issues. Employees of the company also undertake occupational safety training in educational centres of Ukraine, among which: the Main Scientific and Methodological Centre of the State Labour Service of Ukraine (Kyiv).

All employees of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih are trained in corporate production standards regarding the fatalities prevention — ArcelorMittal Fatality Prevention Standards (FPS) — which set requirements in the following areas: emergency preparedness, use of cranes, lifting equipment, vehicles and driving, railway safety, isolation, work at heights, in confined spaces and hazardous gas areas, accident investigation, contractor management.

The company also has a training centre for the safe execution of work that is part of the ArcelorMittal University in Ukraine. The training centre is intended for the practical training of the company’s employees and contractors in the safe performance of high-risk work and the requirements of the corporate standards for fatal accidents prevention — ArcelorMittal Fatality Prevention Standards (FPS). The building of the training centre consists of an educational block and a practical training ground equipped with modern simulators. The simulators make it possible to learn safe methods of performing work in conditions as close as possible to production realities. Up to 200 people can be trained at the training centre simultaneously.

20 603 employees of the company completed training on health and safety, and fire safety at the ArcelorMittal University in Ukraine in 2024, including:
8 887 trained white collars employees,
11 716 persons – blue collars.

3 353 employees of the company completed training on the topics: High-Risk Works and H&S Issues Management Training, Fire Safety Training for Employees Working Under High Fire Hazard Conditions, Fire Safety Training for Officials of Enterprises, Institutions and Organizations Responsible for Ensuring the Implementation of Fire Safety Measures,and Consumer Electrical Installations Technical Operation Rules. Consumer Electrical Installations Safe Operation Rules during 2024.

The implementation of the procedure for organizing and controlling the safe work execution by contractors at capital repair and construction facilities is ongoing. Representatives of the team are constantly present alongside the work executors monitoring their safety. 772 employees of contractors completed training in 2024.
