ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, as a city-forming company, actively participates in the life and development of Kryvyi Rih, where our employees and their families live.

The main directions of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih social initiatives are health care, education, local community development and ecology.

In 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the city, under which the company financed the projects proposed by the working group and allocated UAH 100 mln for their implementation.
Within the Memorandum signed with the city, the company financed a large-scale renovation of the otolaryngological center of Kryvyi Rih Hospital No. 2, which will provide emergency intensive otolaryngological aid. Another project is the reconstruction of the stadium of the National University of Khryvyi Rih with a complete re-equipment of the students' sports complex for sports games and outdoor athletics.

In winter 2021 the company presented the citizens with festive illumination: the streets and avenues of Kryvyi Rih radically changed their appearance in the light of thousands of bright lights. This is one of the social projects, implemented on the company's funds according to the Memorandum of Cooperation with the city. At the expense of the company the lighting and festive illumination of public gardens, parks, streets of the city (Poshtovyi Avenue, Oleksandra Polya Street, Vyzvolenennya Square, Liberators Park, Molodizhna Square, Volodymyra Velikogo Square, "Alley of 200 chestnuts", Heroes Park (Novorichnyi) ), installations (Molodizhna Square, Bykov Street), as well as lighting of the building of Kryvyi Rih academic drama theater and Taras Shevchenko musical comedy theater.

The company actively assists medical institutions in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the company financed the purchase of three artificial lung ventilation devices for city hospitals.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih also finances the construction of a modern cancer center in Kryvyi Rih in the amount of UAH 400 million.

In cooperation with local communities, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih also implements projects aimed at the development of urban infrastructure, landscaping and improvement of the environmental situation.

In 2021 the repair of the alley on Metallurgiv Avenue was completed. The company also supported employees' social and environmental initiatives within the framework of the "100 Good Things" project. A total of about 300 initiatives were received from employees. Exactly one hundred - the most realistic ones for implementation and the most useful for the greatest number of people - were financed. The jury of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih had no information about the authors of the initiatives, and voted for the proposals themselves, which excluded dishonesty during the selection. The company allocated the equivalent of $1,000 for the implementation of each of the selected initiatives.

Improvement of housing infrastructure, landscaping and gardening of adjacent territories, protection of homeless animals, as well as educational projects for children - these were the initiatives of employees, participants of the "100 Good Things" project.

Thanks to the project, energy-efficient windows were installed in the entrances of residential buildings, drainpipes were replaced, the heating system in the buildings, stairwells, porches and roofs that were in an emergency condition were repaired.

Participants in the "100 Good Things" project equipped schools in Kryvyi Rih with sports grounds and recreation areas for children, and purchased equipment for computer classrooms, projectors and interactive whiteboards, educational materials: textbooks, stands, models and equipment for experiments.

Educational institutions for children with special educational needs also received help: Kryvyi Rih special school "Nadiya", public organizations "Sonyachni Dity of Kryvyi Rih", "United Heart Foundation", "Shelter+", children's sports clubs "Zalizna Molod", Kryvyi Rih "Spas" Federation and others.

In peacetime, our enterprise implemented many social projects for the development of Kryvyi Rih. However, after February 24, 2022, the vector of assistance changed.

Currently, we are focused on humanitarian assistance to civilian residents of cities and towns affected by the war, support for internally displaced persons, and assistance to hospitals.

UNICEF fundraising platform has raised nearly US$3 million, and the company has pledged to double this amount taking the donation to nearly US$6 million.

AMKR prepaid mining tax in the amount of $75 million and committed $2 million to support the national government’s and the city’s humanitarian efforts and to procure medical supplies for the community of Kryvyi Rih. In May a large part of medical supplies arrived in the city and was distributed to three hospitals in Kryvyi Rih and nearby.

Global group has also contributed about 250 thousand dollars’ worth of medical equipment to Lviv hospitals, since Lviv is now accepting the lion’s share of wounded soldiers and civilians.

In September 2022, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih handed over 11 ambulances worth UAH 11 million to the Military Administration of Kryvyi Rih. These ambulances work in the areas bordering the hostilities.

Their task will be to evacuate wounded and sick civilians from the ‘hot line’ to the nearest hospital in Kryvyi Rih, where they will be provided with inpatient care. The machines are adapted for operation in difficult road and climatic conditions and are equipped with special off-road tires. The machines are equipped with the necessary means for carrying out therapeutic measures by the paramedic team.

Mining and steelmaking make the foundation of the Ukrainian economy. ArcelorMittal company believes in Ukraine and is doing whatever it can to support the country right now and to help it rebuild itself for a prosperous future.
