For the fourth time, the city hosted the Job Fair, a popular career guidance event organized by the Education and Science Department of Kryvyi Rih City Council. Traditionally, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was the main partner and co-organizer of the event.

For six days, nearly 7.5 thousand students of colleges, lyceums and gymnasiums studied the ‘trends’ in various professions at the Job Fair at the Metallurgists' Culture Palace. Six higher education institutions, 14 vocational pre-higher education institutions and 12 vocational education institutions offered them their training programs. This year's fair brought together the leading companies of our city, including ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and Metinvest Holding. Two important partners joined the career guidance event this year - Kryvbasvodokanal and Kryvorizhteplomerezha.

Kateryna Zaloznykh, Director of HR Department of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih:

‘This year, the Job Fair is being held in the spring, during the school holidays, so that more children and teenagers can attend the event and learn about the professions available in our city. This event is unique because almost all educational institutions of Kryvyi Rih are represented here in one place. Young people have the opportunity to learn about professions and companies, as well as the possibility of employment at these companies.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is a long-standing partner of many educational institutions. Together, we implement many programs to train and employ young people, promote technical professions, launch youth development programs, etc. We also strive to show boys and girls that they can develop in their hometown, as there are many opportunities and prospects for this. And our company is an example.’

The magic of steel from ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih

Our company was represented at the Fair with three locations. The first one greeted guests immediately at the entrance to the Metallurgists' Culture Palace. Here, young people, their parents and teachers learned more about the company, had the opportunity to see samples of our products and raw materials used in production, and got to know 'Nova Fabryka' project from its direct participants, as the fourth wave of the project will start soon.

The central location of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was decorated in a combination of the style of the famous Harry Potter novel and production.

Every year, we try to come up with something new to encourage young people, looking for new ways to interest the current generation in technical professions, unique development programs, so that young people choose professions to study, which they can then come to work at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. Since if you don't know physics, everything around you seems like magic, we decided to combine magic and production at the location, and with the help of cult-favourite characters, help them understand the professions and look at metallurgy as a sphere of amazing and incredible things.

Throughout the six days of the fair, the location attracted a lot of young people, because in addition to basic information about the company, boys and girls could play an intellectual game here. For correct answers about the company's capabilities, its major projects, internships, and youth life, the participants of the game received surprise prizes.

Sorting hat was very popular among fair visitors, as they could not only try it on but also talk to it. For example, while it chose Harry Potter's faculty of study, the hat predicted the participants of the location their future profession. So even those who didn't know what they wanted to be before had a guideline for their profession and learned more about where they could learn it.

The participants could take pictures in the company's overalls, a steelworker suit, a helmet, as well as a Harry Potter’s hat, a cloak and a magic wand at the original photo zone, the third location of the company.

Andrzej Wypych, Chief HR, Corporate Communications and European Integration Officer of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih personally tried on the hat, talked to it, and got a prize.

‘I answered the questions honestly and was rewarded for it,’ said Andrzej, smiling. ‘In general, I am impressed by the large number of participants in the fair. This shows that young people are active, they care about their future and do everything possible to implement their plans. Choosing a profession is not an easy task. It takes a lot of information and time to make the right decision, and it is important to learn more about your future job. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih works closely with many educational institutions in the city. We introduce young people to our professions, production capabilities and, of course, to the prospect of building their own career and professional development at our company.’

What future should young people choose?

Acting Mayor Yurii Vilkul visited the Job Fair. Welcoming the guests, he noted that it is important to make the right choice in life, and the choice of profession and first job is one of the key ones. This year, the Job Fair went beyond the borders of not only our city but also the region, as partners from other cities took part in the fair. Representatives of law enforcement agencies also joined the fair and told the children about the work of the patrol police, state guard service, etc.

The mayor emphasized that it is important for young people to acquire high-quality knowledge in line with the real labor market. This gives them confidence in the future. And our city will continue to do everything possible to ensure that young people stay in Kryvyi Rih and develop it.

Tetiana Kripak, Director of Education and Science Department of the City Executive Committee:

‘Kryvyi Rih is a very big city and, even with the Internet, there are times when young people simply do not know about the educational institutions that exist in our city and the companies that operate here. That is why the Job Fair is a unique opportunity for students in grades 9-11 and their parents to learn about where they can study in their hometown and then get a job. Each participant of the fair had the opportunity to talk to representatives of the leading companies in the city, get first-hand information and advice, and decide on their future profession.’

‘As soon as you enter the fair, you do not know where to look first when choosing the professions, you can choose whatever you want,’ shared his impressions of the fair a 9th grade student Oleksandr Kosinenko, ‘All the locations are very interesting, you want to stop at each one, look, and learn something new. It takes a lot of time to go around the fair. I'm about to graduate, so I need to decide what kind of education to get and where to go to work. I haven't decided yet. I know about ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih - it has open pits, an underground mine, steel plant, and 'Nova Fabryka' project for young people, and many other new and interesting things.’

‘I want to become a graphic designer, and I'm thinking about where to study, and I'm considering only educational institutions in Kryvyi Rih,” says Oleksandra Zahoruiko, a student at Ternivskyi Lyceum. I live in an industrial city, my father worked here at one of the plants. And I understand that there are a lot of jobs in the city, and after the war there will be even more, because the country will have to be rebuilt. I will study and join in.’
