Message from Mauro Longobardo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, on Health and Safety Week

test

Dear colleagues!

Today is the start of Health and Safety Week in our company. It is timed to coincide with Health and Safety Day, which ArcelorMittal will celebrate on 25 April this year. This also marks the start of an integrated global campaign. All its activities are aimed at making each of us think about what we can do to make our work safer, so that all our employees return home safe and sound.

Our ultimate goal is zero fatalities and serious injuries. This is the aim of our Believe in Zero campaign. There are many ways to achieve this goal – organisational and technical. But they all start with belief. Faith that we can make it possible for no one to be injured or killed on our production sites. Of course, faith alone is not enough. But everything we do must lead to it. Each of us must stop when there is a risk of injury at work. Each of us must stop a colleague if he or she is working in dangerous conditions or violating safety rules. And when I say "everyone", I mean that it makes no difference what your position is, how old you are, what your gender is, or how long you have been with the company. Unfortunately, we lost one colleague earlier this year. But we must do everything in our power to ensure that this never happens again. No human life has a price.

We must know our enemies - all risks, including the top 4 killer risks that can lead to injury, must be eliminated. Lifesaving Golden Rules must be written into the subconscious and strictly followed. We need to improve the culture of safety and risk management, and the role of leaders who set a good example is very important. I believe that each of us can be such a leader. I believe that zero accidents can be a reality. I want all of you to believe it too.

Work safely please!

Mauro Longobardo,
Chief Executive Officer, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih
