Health and Safety Training

Clear requirements and control in the field of industrial safety are the most important conditions for ArcelorMittal company journey to zero in terms of industrial injuries, without distinction between its own and third-party employees.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih successfully operates the University of ArcelorMittal in Ukraine, where employees of the plant are trained in industrial safety. The employees of the plant are also trained in H&S area at the training centers of Ukraine, including: Main Scientific and Methodological Center of the State Labor Service of Ukraine (Kyiv).
At ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, all employees of the plant are trained in the corporate production standards ArcelorMittal Fatality Prevention Standards (FPS) for the prevention of fatal accidents, which set requirements in the following areas: emergency preparedness, use of cranes, lifting equipment, vehicles and driving, rail safety, isolation, working at heights, in confined spaces and gas hazardous areas, accident investigation, contractor management.

The plant also has a training center for safe work performance of ArcelorMittal University in Ukraine. The training center is designed for practical training of plant employees and the employees of contractors in the safe performance of high-risk work and the requirements of corporate standards for the prevention of fatal accidents ArcelorMittal Fatality Prevention Standards (FPS). The building of the training center consists of a training building and a practical training ground equipped with modern simulators.
The simulators provide an opportunity to learn safe ways to perform work in conditions as close as possible to production. The training center can simultaneously train about 120 people.

In 2021, ArcelorMittal University in Ukraine trained 7,771 employees of the plant on H&S and fire safety, including:

During 2021, 1879 employees of the plant were trained on the topics: "Management of high-risk work", "Work in conditions of increased fire hazard" and "Rules for the safe operation of consumer electrical installations".

The implementation of the procedure for organizing and controlling safe work performance by contractors at the facilities of capital repair and construction is in progress. Representatives of the team are constantly close to the contractors, monitoring their safety. In 2021, 1949 employees of contractors were trained.

The plan of training of the plant personnel on H&S and fire safety is carried out in accordance with the applications of structural subdivisions.
